Edgar/Maynard Injured, Out Of UFC 130

  • By

The UFC 130 headliner and lightweight title rematch between current champion, Frankie Edgar, and undefeated challenger, Gray Maynard, will have to wait as both fighters have withdrawn from their bout due to injury.

Frankie Edgar hurt his back and his rib,” announced UFC President, Dana White, on a media conference call on Monday, “and Gray Maynard hurt his knee.

The news comes less than three weeks away from the Pay-Per-View event. Rather than add another event as the headliner, the UFC will now headline with ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Matt Hamill (previously the co-main event).

Each subsequent fight will move up one step placing heavyweights Frank Mir and Roy Nelson as the new co-main event and moving the welterweight fight between Thiago Alves and Rick Story from the Spike TV televised preliminary card to the main event.  Spike TV will now televise middleweights Kendall Grove and Tim Boetsch as well as bantamweights Miguel Angel Torres and Demetrious Johnson.
