UFC 129 will be historically remembered as Hall-of-Famer, Randy Couture’s last ever MMA fight, as the former champion stands firm on his plans of retirement. Although - as UFC President Dana White suggests - the possibility still exists for a future return, Couture’s words after his loss at UFC 129 seem to be those of someone ready to move on from what was truly an inspiring career.

“There wasn’t a sentimentality about it,” said Couture after his loss to Lyoto Machida this past Saturday. “There was kind of a sense of relief. I felt like it was the right decision long before this and I felt more secure walking out that this is the right time and the right thing for me to be doing. There was no doubt in my head.”

“The fans have always treated me great,” Couture added, “but to go out on that ovation was very special.”

On Sunday, Couture confirmed his plans to retire regardless of what the UFC may offer bringing the end of an era that will never be forgotten in the history of the sport.

“Definitely, it’s the last fight,” Couture said. “I know they’re going to try to throw me something and get me to come back, but it’s not going to happen.”
