Rashad Evans Would Love To Teach Jones A Lesson

JJ-RE

UFC former light-heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans, fulfilled his part of the bargain to fight former training partner and current champion, Jon Jones, when he beat Tito Ortiz this past weekend at UFC 133. Now it’s up to Jones to defeat ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 135, otherwise we’ll see the rematch of Jackson vs. Rampage which was previously a pretty heated rivalry, but died down when the Jones/Evans drama flared up.

Evans, with his impressive second round TKO of Ortiz, earned himself a title shot against the winner of UFC 135’s Jones vs. Jackson. After Evans’ fight, he said whoever the current champion is, the biggest priority is to reclaim his belt. At the post-fight press conference however, Evans’ true feelings spilled out.

“I would prefer to get it from Jones because I would love to be the first one to beat him,” Evans said, “and he’s so cocky; he’s so cocky. You think I’m cocky. He’s real cocky. He’s for real cocky. Like, I’m on camera, joking around cocky. He’s like, goes to sleep, praising himself cocky. That’s how cocky he is.

“I would love to teach him a lesson. If he makes it past Rampage then I get a chance to do that, but like I said, he has a tough fight ahead of him. If Rampage does his work, then he could actually do something. I think Rampage should come and train at my camp for this fight.”

Shortly after, Jones took to his Twitter account in response and defense

“So interesting that Rashad would offer Rampage to come train. I listen to his words closely, I know how his heart really feels,” tweeted Jones.

“He was never my friend, he's a jealous snake.

“Yes, he's been begging Rampage to train hard.. Just pay attention people, and I hope Rampage IS training hard, I sure am.

“Sometimes I feel like apologizing for whatever I did to him to make him hate me so much.. he's says I betray him.. nonsense.

“I wish someone could find me the full vision of this interview (referring to a clip of an interview in which Jones said he’d fight Evans which was the beginning to this heated battle).

“I cleanly said I would HATE to have to fight my teammate and the ONLY way it could ever possibly happen is if Dana would fire me over it.

“He used that to start calling me Judas and a @JacksonsMMA (Team Jackson) trader. He was looking for an excuse to bring out his envy after I won the belt.”

The fight will surely be intense, assuming it does happen. Jones has to first get past ‘Rampage’, and he needs to be careful not to worry too much about Evans that he overlooks his prerequisite.
