Silva To Headline Nov. 12 UFC On FOX With a Win At UFC 134
Anderson Silva’s scheduled fight this weekend at UFC 134 against Yushin Okami is huge. Not only will he be attempting to extend his UFC record of title defenses to nine and his UFC record of consecutive wins to fourteen, but he will also be playing for the opportunity to headline the very first UFC event airing on FOX.
Although nothing has been officially announced, recent speculation has pointed towards Anderson Silva putting his title on the line against Dan Henderson on November 12th for the FOX event provided he is victorious and does not sustain injuries that would keep him out of the event. First announced on the UG, the news also broke on a Brazilian website, Tatame, including details that if Henderson were to turn down the fight, Chael Sonnen would be pulled from his UFC 136 matchup against Brian Stann in order to fill the FOX headliner for the middleweight title.
Though there has been no official word, neither UFC President, Dana White, or Lorenzo Fertitta would dispute the idea. White previously said he would need to watch UFC 134’s outcome prior to deciding the main event at the FOX event. Fertitta’s words were more encouraging.
“We don’t have a main event set yet (for the UFC on FOX event),” Fertitta told Tatame. “We’ll find out probably after this Saturday, these fights in Rio; then we’ll set a main event, but it’ll be something big. It’ll be a big fight.
“I would love to [have Anderson put his middleweight title on the line against Dan Henderson]. Anderson just needs a win.”
