UFC 142: Live Results & Play-By-Play
UFC 142 kicks off tonight at 10 PM ET / 7 PM PT in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil featuring the featherweight title fight between champion, Jose Aldo, and undefeated top contender, Chad Mendes. Also featured in this event is Anthony Johnson's middleweight debut against 'The Phenom' Vitor Belfort.

EDSON BARBOZA VS. TERRY ETIM
Rd1: Etim with a leg kick. Etim checks a legkick. Headkick blocked by Etim. Etim shoots, gets the takedown, Barboza transitions and is quick back to his feet. Big leg kick by Edson. Etim stalking and firing occasional combo. ANother big legkick from Edson. Left hook by Etim, but Edson fires back a quick counter. Another left jab by Etim. Etim shoots, but Edson stuffs and separates Etim with a knee. ANother leg kick from Edson. Pair of inside leg kicks from Edson and then forward with a combination. Inside leg kick lands again. Spinning back kick to the body from Edson ending the round in his favor. 10-9 Barboza.
Rd2: Leg kick Barboza, and another. Inside leg kick. Again. Etim can't close the distance while these kicks are eating his legs. Body shot by Barboza followed with a leg kick. Body shot from Etim. Spinning back kick from Etim. Etim with a right, followed by a leg kick. Moment's time and Etim shoots and earns the takedown. Barboza again, quick to his feet. Right from Edson. Body shot from Etim. Much closer round, but edge towards Barboza 10-9.
Rd3: Nice leg kick from Edson. Clinch with a knee before separating from Etim. Etim with a jab. Body kick by Barboza and a SPINNING BACK KICK TO THE FACE KNOCKS OUT ETIM IN A FLASH! Wow!

ERICK SILVA VS. CARLO PRATER
Rd1: Silva with a big right, Prater bends over, SIlva with a knee, Carlo falls to the mat, and Silva tees off until the fight is stopped! Quick TKO!

ROUSIMAR PALHARES VS. MIKE MASSENZIO
Rd1: Inside leg kicks from Palhares. One lands low causing a brief pause. Another inside leg kick, Palhares uses it to shoot for a takedown, knocks Mike down, but Mike stands. Palhares pulls Mike down ontop of him, grabs the ankle, and Mike immediately taps.

VITOR BELFORT VS. ANTHONY JOHNSON
Rd1: Anthony stalking, both men testing kicks to the midsection. Anthony catches one and sends Vitor to the mat. Anthony stands after a missed submission from Vitor. Anthony steps back in and drops a bomb before entering back into Vitor's guard. Reset back to their feet for no action. Johnson rushes in, Vitor stuffs, Vitor with big shots as Johnson commits to this attempt. Again the ref resets this, maybe too quick. A big knee from Vitor has Johnson in trouble. Another. Johnson still trying to earn a takedown, and Vitor falls over. Johnson working Vitor's body with Vitor continues to try and defend. Another quick stand up back to the center of the cage. Johnson looking like he's tiring. Johnson with another missed takedown. Vitor punishing Johnson for his missed shots, Vitor transitions to Johnson's back. Vitor reigning in big shots. Vitor grabbing ahold of a rear-naked and Anthony taps!

JOSE ALDO VS. CHAD MENDES
Rd1: Inside leg kick Mendes. Another. Outside leg kick. Aldo returns. Inside from Mendes and then he evades Jose's. Chad shoots, Jose evades. Big leg kick from Aldo, low leg kick from Mendes causes brief pause. Big uppercut from Aldo, Mendes shoots, but can't close the deal. Inside leg kick from Aldo. Mendes ducks under another uppercut, shoots, but again cannot prevail. Leg kick from Mendes. Inside leg kick Mendes. Combo by Aldo, Mendes ducks, shoots and almost gets it, but can't finish. Mendes has Aldo's back, tries to toss Aldo to the floor, but Aldo grabs the cage and is warned for it. Another toss and Aldo almost to the mat, but again stays standing. Mendes maintains control of his back and sends knees. Aldo separates from Mendes, turns around and sends a knee to Mendes' face easily cleaning him out! Jose finishes with a big bomb and its all over!
