The accomplishments over that last 5 - 7 years have been huge - in any industry! It is also apparent that they have managed to bring almost all their employees to "tow the company line" and the diplomatic, thoughtful comments on the interim champion policy in this video is a perfcet example. All seem to buy into the "marketing" need for an interim champion with statements like "the people need their champion", "the show must go on" but the reality is that the legitimacy of the interim belt is lost on most knowlegeable MMA fans and I believe that, deep down, none of the fighters accept the interim belt as genuine. To take it a step further in the analysis, I would suggest that interim belts are more a method by which the UFC can gain control of its activities and its employees, not fall to the mercy of its fighters who, dare I say, differ in opinion with corporate decisions and "stage" a protest by means of extending lay-offs due to injuries. Of note, in this interview, no current champions were asked the question. What would GSP have to say on the subject? What would Silva have to say? How about Aldo, Dos Santos? I think there is a better way to keeep the excitement going than to suggest that an incredible champion like GSP, be artificially dethroned because of a legitimate injury.
